Repairing and restoring hardwood floors. After pulling back the carpet in the living room of our new house, we could see hardwoods. However, once completely pulled back there were two large plywood patched areas. This brought on instant disappointment. Instead of trying to cover them back up or patch them with little pieces of hardwood, which would be really noticeable, we opted to tear out the boards by hand which lead to the patched areas and put new tongue and groove hardwood in. This was not easy by any means. Tongue and groove is the way the boards lock in on top of being nailed down through the top and side. However, after spending the majority of our free time, the floors have now been repaired. Next will be sanding then staining and polyurethane.
